I am proud to introduce you to the incredibly talented Alexis Gulley.  Alexis was our first artist to be under our Breakout Artist Program.  She had such a wonderful writing sense and fresh voice and while only in high school, she caught our attention.  We have continued to help other artists reach their dreams through music, and I know Alexis will go far in her career!  Read more about her in our Spotlight Artist Series.

Where are you from and how long have you been singing?

I’m from Franklin, TN and have been singing since I was 7!

Who are your musical influences?

Singing wise I love Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, and Dolly Parton. Songwriting wise I love Eric Church, Nicole Galyon , Ashley Gorley, and Tom Douglas

Do you write and how do you get inspired?

I do write! And I get inspired by the people and events that take place around me.

Tell us about your experience working with Off The Row in the Studio?

I LOVE working with Off The Row. They are so welcoming and helpful. I am so thankful to get to work with the amazing Houston and Erin

How is the pandemic affecting music for you?

For me the main thing it has affected was being able to play out. I loved performing and the pandemic definitely took away that ability.

What is your favorite song you didn’t write and why?

My favorite song I didn’t write is definitely The House That Built Me.

What is your favorite quote that describes how you view life?

Love never fails.

Any exciting news musically or personal?

I just recorded two new singles!

Tell us about your new single-

My new single “Better Late Than Never” is very much a story song. It follows along a young couple as they develop their relationship. It was such a fun song to write. When I started writing the song I took inspiration from my own relationship and as the song progressed I added in engagement and pregnancy stories of people in my life. The title and hook of the song, “Better Late Than Never” is something I used because I love this common expression and thought it would be fun to turn that into a song. Even if someone cannot relate to the song as a whole (I can’t either), I hope everyone can find a detail that relates to their own life. I am so excited for the world to hear my newest single!

Release date for Better Late Than Never – April 30th

What are your musical plans for 2021?

My plans are to release some new songs, co-write a lot more, and start getting more invested in my career.
